Loggers was invited to present their detailed technical paper on the development of the unique and advanced air suspension solution for the accommodations of the CSD Athena at the 20th world dredging congress WODCON XX in Brussels.
The paper, titled “Solution for the vibration challenges on cutter suction dredgers”, is written in conjunction with solution partners Van Oord and IHC Merwede shipyards. The Athena is one of the world’s largest, powerful and innovative self-propelled cutter suction dredgers and owned by Dutch dredging and marine contractor Van Oord.
The crew’s wellbeing, production efficiency and minimization of downtime were on top of the requirement list of Van Oord. Loggers’ completely new solution for the CSD Athena, branded Dredgair™ (www.dredgair.com), isolates vibrations starting at 2 Hz that would otherwise be transferred from the cutter head, through the hull to the crew in the accommodations. The solution is considered revolutionary as it puts and end to a major problem on board of a CSD: vibration and shock.
