Air Suspension Skid Unit
Generator sets, pumps and chillers are often installed on skid frames, so they can be relocated and used for another application when needed. However they still require to be isolated, as the vibration generated by these types of rotating equipment will cause nuisance. During the engineering process, possibilities for modularity and relocation are often limited by the way the equipment requires to be mounted. As a result, concessions in both engineering as isolation levels are made.
Loggers has developed a skid unit that overcomes these limitations and offers the best vibration isolation possible. Standardized skid dimensions of 3 x 2 meters are easy to incorporate in the client’s design. As a result, hours of engineering are saved as the engineer does not need to worry about equipment details in an early design stage anymore. Based on the client’s specifications and demands, Loggers also develops tailor-made air suspension skids for applications that exceed the dimensions of our standard air skid unit.
Well-equipped with Loggers’ renowned air suspension system, the isolating skid unit isolates nearly all vibration and noise. In technical terms, it is ensured that the natural frequency of each installation is always kept as low as possible (3.5 Hz). This is verified by specialists of the Center of Excellence, that perform six degrees of freedom calculations for each application and compare the natural frequencies with the given disturbance frequencies, such as the engine’s RPM, to avoid resonance. Furthermore, flexible connections with the environment are taken into account, such as fuel pipelines and exhaust gas lines. High quality expansion joints are applied to prevent the transfer of vibration through piping.
